A white character in brownface/occasional bindi appropriation gets a billboard protesting her death but a black lesbian character who was killed in a much more disturbing way (that mimics countless scenarios that have actually happened) Gets a resounding chorus of “her death was well executed” and “it was necessary” that’s not transparent at all lmao
since the comments in this post are full of racist clexa fans talking about how poussey’s death is “not the same”, how it was “justified”, how it’s “an important message”, how “OITNB is such a good show” and at the same time denying the accusations of racism and trying to claim that lexa wasn’t in brownface and a bindi, i’m just going to collectively tell everyone to go fuck themselves.

the framing of her white cop killer as a good-hearted innocent, the lousy appropriation of the “black lives matter” movement by white writers, the graphic replica of eric gardner’s death, the suggestion that all deaths of black people at the hands of police are “innocent mistakes”, the mere fact that poussey was a black lesbian who died on television after a tv season where wlw and poc have been killed on-screen at higher rates than ever, the fact that it aired a week after 50 black&latinx qpoc were killed on a racist and homophobic hate crime.
it was all anti black, it was all lesbophobic, it was all racist. any person saying otherwise and trying to excuse/justify this is racist too.
anyways, just to make things clear: lexa/clexa fans who are Not Racist don’t go around posts about the anti-black and lesbophobic death of a black lesbian talking about how the clexa fandom is Not Racist and excusing lexa’s brownface because they are busy going around posts excusing/justifying poussey’s death and calling out the racist OPs.
